The Laguna PX|12 Benchtop Planer with the upgraded QuadTec cutterhead is a new addition to the Laguna lineup, designed to deliver premium performance in a compact format. Laguna PX|12 Upgraded Cutterhead delivers precision and longevity
At the centre of the machine is the new and improved QuadTec cutterhead. Designed to provide quiet and long lasting performance, it uses twenty six solid carbide inserts measuring 15 by 15 by 2.5 millimetres. Each insert is four sided, allowing it to be rotated to expose a fresh cutting edge and significantly extend tool life compared with traditional high speed steel knives.
The inserts are mounted in a straight line configuration that requires less machining, helping reduce overall cost while maintaining precision. Each insert is also indexed, eliminating the need for a jig when rotating or replacing them. This design allows the cutterhead to produce an excellent finish, even when working with difficult hardwood grain.
Power and performance built into the Laguna PX|12
Powering the planer is a 2 horsepower motor that spins the cutterhead at 10,000 revolutions per minute, delivering the strength needed for demanding planing tasks while producing a smooth surface finish. To improve workflow, the PX|12 also features flip down table extensions that provide additional support when feeding stock through the machine, making it easier to handle longer boards and maintain stable material control throughout the planing process.
