The adhesive-backed clear splinter guard is a critical part of the Festool Guide Rail system, indicating the exact location of the cut line and preventing chipping on the top surface. A worn splinterguard will do neither of these.

A splinter guard can be peeled off, moved over and recut to renew its effectiveness but should be replaced once it is too narrow or begins to peel.
