Spotlight on Yeti Tools SmartBench

What is the SmartBench V1.2 110V PrecisionPro?

The SmartBench is a unique take on CNC routing, offering the efficiency and accuracy of a large-format CNC machine with an easy-to-learn interface in a package that can be rapidly disassembled for storage or transport, then reassembled, by anybody.

Here are two videos that introduce, and go into more depth on the SmartBench.

SmartBench Overview (12 minutes)

Quality, Reliability and Accuracy

The SmartBench is a production-level full-size CNC machine built to deliver reliable and repeatable performance. In fact, two SmartBenches are employed in the SmartBench production line, working 9 hours a day and 5 days a week. Each machine is assembled, calibrated, thoroughly checked by a multi-point quality control procedure, then tested for 6 hours before leaving Yeti's factory in the UK.

The unique design positions the X axis directly on top of the workpiece. Compared to typical CNC designs with an overhead gantry, the spindle motor is better supported. This translates to accuracy of 0.5 mm (0.02 inches) or greater in the finished part.

Easy Learning Curve

The SmartBench features a colour touchscreen console which is used to set up and control the machine. It has an intuitive and easy-to-learn interface with step-by-step wizards so even somebody new to CNC will feel comfortable operating it. Use it to program and cut 10 different geometry types without even touching a separate computer.

Surprisingly Affordable

Due to the unique design of the SmartBench, it is surprisingly well-priced. The complete machine costs only $11,500. (If you compare the SmartBench to other CNCs with the same capability, you are probably looking at spending two to three times as much.)

Capability and Versatility

This CNC is large enough to cut full sheets of plywood, and sturdy enough to cut non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass and copper. It's also suitable for cutting softwoods, hardwoods, particleboard, MDF, OSB, and composite and plastic materials such as Dibond, fibreglass, polycarbonate, and acrylic.

The CNC Stylus attachment transforms the CNC router into a highly accurate tool for plotting and transferring designs using ordinary writing tools such as a markers, pens and pencils.

Used with the Stylus, the Vinyl Cutter allows you to cut materials such as window film, adhesive-backed vinyl, paper, card stock, fabric, and cork.

Packable and Portable

In any woodworking shop, the CNC router usually takes up the more space than any other single tool. If it is used non-stop, this might be okay, but it's an inefficient use of space if it's not being used. And who among us couldn't use a little more shop space?

When not being used, the SmartBench breaks down into six pieces for compact storage, or transport. Assembly or disassembly less than three minutes, and the largest component is 105 x 20 x 3 inches and only 49 pounds.

The entire unit runs on standard household power, so it can be plugged in anywhere.

Dust Extraction

While any CNC router saves you time and effort machining parts, one with effective dust collection saves you a lot of cleanup time, and increases accuracy and cutter life. The SmartBench can be connected to any dust extractor that draws up to 1,000 watts, and will switch it on and off automatically for extraction right at the spindle.

Local Support

As your local dealer, we can provide full technical support. We carry Yeti parts and accessories, including spindle motors, replacement motor brushes, cutters, and more!

You can also submit support tickets directly to Yeti Tool and they respond to all issues within 24 hours including a phone or video call if warranted. Support is available even after the machine is out of warranty.
