Woodpeckers Marking Gauges and Panel Marking Gauges, offer dual functionality with knife cutting and pencil marking in a single tool. Ideal for hand-cut joinery, the marking gauge with a knife provides a precise physical guide. Meanwhile, for machinery work, the tool allows for easy switching between a mechanical pencil and a razor-sharp circular marking knife with a simple 90° rotation, eliminating the need to remove and replace mechanisms.

Woodpeckers Marking and Panel Gauges come with two knives, adjustable spacers and mechanical pencil

For mortise and tenon layout, this tool includes a second knife and spacers. Insert spacers between the knives for precise mortise or tenon adjustments (1/8 inch to ½ inch in 1/16 inch increments). The hollow beam has a threaded cap for storing the second knife, unused spacers, and a mechanical pencil.

For a visible line without project marks, rotate the beam 90° and attach the included mechanical pencil, using standard 0.9 mm lead advanced by the hex-head lead screw. Woodpeckers’ marking gauges uniquely combine knife-marking and a custom-built mechanical pencil.

Marking and Panel Gauges include built-in tool, dual scales, and storage bracket

Delight in the user-friendly features of these tools, such as dual laser-engraved scales - one calibrated to the knife end and another to the mechanical pencil center. The facing scale corresponds to the marking tool in use.

Woodpeckers Marking and Panel Gauges offer two choices of material: aluminum or stainless steel

Both sizes come in two material options. The beams are offered in either "Woodpeckers Red" anodized aluminum or stainless steel. Each version has its merits - some find the white engraving on red aluminum more readable in low light, while others favor the sturdiness and durability of stainless steel.

Both the Marking Gauge and Panel Marking Gauge feature fence lengths for robust support along the stock edge (3-1/2 inches on the Marking Gauge and 6-1/2 inches on the Panel Marking Gauge).
